What has been your biggest struggle with losing weight and achieving your fitness goals?
My biggest struggles were being consistent and trying to be perfect. I wanted to do everything perfect and if I messed up, I felt like a failure.
What made you want to change?
I have always wanted to change, but I just had a hard time being consistent. I wanted to be a better, more active mom. I wanted my confidence back.
What was your biggest concern before you began working with me? How did you overcome it?
My biggest concern was failing again or not doing the “right” things. I told myself that this was the last chance for me. I would give it my all and see what happens.
What was the hardest thing for you to change in order to succeed? How did you do it?
The hardest thing to change was my mind. The all or nothing thinking and being a perfectionist. I used to think that one slip off my plan was a reason to binge. I learned along the way that one slip is no big deal in the grand scheme of things. I could reevaluate and still be on plan I just needed to adjust along the way.
Dan’s words and experience helped when I didn’t believe in myself.
What was the lowest point of your journey? How did you overcome it?
The lowest point for me was when I thought about quitting. I was gone to camp for a long weekend and I was up a few pounds and just didn’t feel like I could do it anymore. It was then and there that I knew my life was forever changed because I didn’t quit. I just picked up with doing what I needed to do and went on to lose more weight and get healthier. In my weak moments or when I didn’t believe in myself, I had the encouragement I needed to be forever changed. Sometimes I had to reread my emails and words from Dan when I needed a boost of encouragement.
Did you achieve what you initially set out for? Was there anything positive you achieved that you didn't expect?
I did achieve what I set out for. I wanted a balance in my life. I wanted to be able to go out to a restaurant with friends unexpectedly and know I was in control of the situation. I could go eat ice cream with my kids and not feel guilty about it or that I wasn’t being perfect or that I “shouldn’t” eat any.
Looking back, was working with me what you thought it would be? Do you feel you made the right decision?
I absolutely made the right decision. I found the balance in my life I wanted.
What was your favorite part of about working with me?
Definitely the accountability. The diet & exercise strategies we followed were simple, but your support helped me stay consistent! My goal right now is to built tons of muscle, especially glutes and abs. I know this might include gaining some weight, and I am completely fine with that.
What are your future health and fitness plans?
My future plans are to continue with my balance I created. I have new habits in place that I will stick to and I would like to tone up some more, so I’ll be eating in a deficit for a while longer. I also want to set some new strength goals to go after.
Maybe a pull up one day 💪
